Poldark Tour of Cornwall Filming Locations

Poldark adapted from the Winston Graham series, shows off the dramatic beauty of the Cornish landscape and coastline. Now you can step into the world of Ross Poldark and visit some of the breath-taking locations featured on the show in this 1 day Poldark tour of Cornwall.

Upon pick up from your hotel, you will meet your local Cornish tour guide and Poldark expert. The day starts off with a visit to probably the most original, unspoilt port in the world. It is home to a number of square rigged sailing ships and is used as the location for Truro Harbour in the filming of Poldark.

From here you’ll travel the past real Truro and Falmouth and on to the far west stopping firstly at a picturesque fishing cove used in the second series of Poldark.

We then travel a few miles on to visit Porthcurno and The Minack Theatre. The Minack Theatre provides the best views over Pedn Vounder beach which was used in Poldark Series 1 and down to Porthcurno beach featured in Poldark Series 2. The views from here are unrivalled and it is one of the most iconic photo locations in Cornwall.

You will then head on further west to Porthgwarra, the pretty cove used in Poldark Series 1 for the pilchard boats scene, and also from where Demelza spies on Ross taking his early morning swim. It was also used as the location for Mark’s escape by boat to France in the first series.

You will then stop for lunch at a reputable pub/restaurant in the area.

After lunch you will wind your way on to Botallack. The farmhouse ‘Botallack Manor’ was used in the original 1970’s series as Ross Poldarks’ home, ‘Nampara’. The cliff top settings at Botallack with disused Engine houses and mine buildings set right on the cliff edge are extremely dramatic and have their own story to tell. Two of the mines here are used as the locations for Wheal Leisure, Wheal Grace and Wheal Grambler in Poldark.

From here, you will head up the scenic coastal road to St Ives and back up to your starting point, where your driver-guide will return you to your hotel.

NOTE: Be prepared for occasional wet and/or windy weather.  A good pair of shoes are required as some walking is required to get to some of the locations. Some of the walks and locations, although relatively short, are along cliffs, beaches, steep paths and/or uneven terrain. These tours are not suitable for small children and are not wheelchair accessible. Tours available in English, Russian and Italian.  Please also note that locations, duration and itinerary can vary according to pick-up and drop-off locations and season.

  • Enjoy the tour with your own local expert driver-guide
  • Visit several locations from Poldark and the opportunity to get out and explore each of these locations on foot
  • See some of the pictureseque and historic highlights of Cornwall
  • Transfers to and from St Austell or Truro included in the price
